I am a decendent of John Killion Jr, Revolutionary War Soldier. I am working on establishing the links so that my Daughters can join the DAR on John's service. I would also like to establish this line for the SAR for my son and I. Looks like there is not a lot of information on the Indiana branch of the Killion family. I have yet to find the primary documentation to John Jr. to his children. I am decended from his daughter Melanie "Lanie"[to many spellings to count ;-)] who married William Stanfield. Right now, I am serving in Afhganistan and in my spare time I am doing Genealogy work on the net... I hope to be able to help "leaf-out" the Indiana branch of the family. Would love to get down to the reunion sometime.... Merry Christmas to all.

In reading the history of Andreas Killian it stated: Philip, son of John Sr. and Elizabeth Z. Killian, seems to have disappeared after selling two tracts to Michael Zimmerman. He entered 100 acres on Shoal Creek in 1798,100 on same creek in 1800, 50 acres on Henry River in 1799, and 135 (adjoining Andrew Killian) in the year 1787, all in Lincoln County. My family history has Philip Killian marrying a M. Hocking Hockings around 1796 in Lincoln County, NC. They had a son, John Killian born April 25, 1796 in Lincoln County. He married a Lydia Hooper in Lexington, Missouri on August 25, 1818. John died April 10, 1856 at Emigration Cyn, Utah from a logging accident. I have the original commission of John Killian to a Captain in Company C of the Battalion of Silver Grays Infantry of Salt Lake Military District on April 21, 1851 signed by Brigham Young. They had a daughter, Letha Jane born October 11, 1824 in Lexington, MO. She married Elijah Newman in October 1850 in Salt Lake City. Elijah was one of the first Mormon Pioneers to Salt Lake. Around 1850 Letha drove a team of two oxen to Utah by herself, with two of her children from a previous marriage and one of Elijah’s children from a previous marriage. She was met half way to Salt Lake by one of her brothers. In December, 1850 Letha and Elijah where asked to be one of the first to settle in Parowan, Iron County, Utah. There they raised a family of nine children-six of their own ,two of Letha’s and one of Elijah’s from previous marriages. Elijah was a farmer, carpenter and Justice of the Peace. After Elijah died, Letha moved to Idaho and died on August 30, 1898. Letha and Elijah’s daughter, Lavinnia Newman married John Gant in Salt Lake and they had a son, Jay T. Gant who is my grandfather.
